ABOUT ME

Anthony Gutierrez, BS, LMT, CPT

EDUCATION

Hello there! I'm Tony, a passionate advocate for holistic health and wellness. 

After obtaining my Bachelor's degree in Health Science from Aurora University in 2012, I decided to delve into the field of Massage Therapy. Since 2013, I have been providing clinical bodywork focused on pain relief and increasing mobility and body awareness.  I believe in the power of touch and its ability to restore balance and harmony to both the body and mind. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist with additional certifications that enhance my knowledge and understanding of the human body. I am a certified ISSA Personal Trainer and Nutritionist and proud to possess a Pain Free Performance Specialist Certification from PPSC, allowing me to individualize and optimize the human movement system to train without pain.

EXPERIENCE

My journey in the field of wellness extends beyond massage therapy. Prior to becoming a licensed therapist, I gained valuable experience as a Rehab Aide, collaborating closely with Physical and Occupational Therapists. During my time at Athletico I was fortunate enough to provide massage for the Australian and New Zealand National Rugby Teams, Copa America Centario tournament officials, Elite Runners in Chicago Marathon, Tennis players at Laver Cup Chicago 2018 and Joffrey Ballet Dancers. Additionally, I have worked as a Chiropractic Assistant, further expanding my understanding of holistic healing practices. I work with all types of clients including office workers with chronic neck and shoulder tension, people on their feet all day with low back pain, and recreational athletes to help them perform at their highest level.

PERSONAL STORY

Fitness has not only helped me overcome pain, it has also helped my mental health.  I dealt with depression for years due to injuries and stopped playing soccer, one of my personal passions, to focus on other hobbies like drawing, only to realize sitting made my pains worse. Throughout my athletic journey, I have learned firsthand the importance of proper rehabilitation and maintenance. I am able to use movement techniques such as self-massage and strengthening exercises as my medicine to relieve stress or anxiety. I have been able to regain my strength, mobility, and overall fitness and confidence. I am eager to share my knowledge and expertise in self-care with you, empowering you to move and feel better.​
